MEET CAPONE
MEET CAPONE

Our largest boy is officially named Teddy, and he is the biggest bundle of love you could ever hope to meet. As he gets settled in here, he’s already learning to relax and that it’s OK to play!
My heart! ❤️🐽🐷 Our 4 pig pigs are doing so well here. We figured out a way to expand their pasture into the woods before fall, and they will have an amazing little cove surrounded by tall trees to relax in. Molly and Harriet have recovered well from their spays, and life is only looking up for these kids! I’m so excited and happy for them.
Capone and Harriet are two peas in a pod. They’re the underdogs (under-pigs?) in our group of four, and love snuggling up together on chilly days like today. 💕
It’s National Pig Day! And who better to help us celebrate than the free, happy, and very loved pigs at Ahimsa. Capone and Harriet are some of the sweetest piggy-people you could ever hope to meet.
Did you know that pigs are more intelligent than dogs, and that they score on some cognitive tests at the same level as 3-year-old humans? They have tight familiar bonds with each other but are also independent and don’t care one bit what us humans think. 😆 They love rooting around and are naturally creatures of the forest. The idea of them roaming a pasture comes from farmers - not where they would naturally live. We’ve had to take our pig areas in small steps, but this summer we plan on extending their pasture into our 5 acres of woods so they can dig and munch and just be pigs!
They might be 3 times our size, but our love for them is so much bigger. Happy National Pig Day!
